release v0.9.3

0.9: The real solar system

A new world starts on today's date, with every planet and the Moon where they really are, on real elliptical orbits tilted the way they really are: windows to Mars and beyond open when they really do. Plus 2 updates, up to 0.9.3.

Version 0.9 and every update to it, newest first. The game shows the same notes on its main menu once per version.

0.9.3 · Burns you set up early

2026-10-06

  • SAS set to a burn long before it now points where that burn will happen, not where its marker was when you pressed it: the orbit carries the marker round, and a hold frozen an hour early met the burn most of a quarter-turn off.
  • Skipping ahead to a burn slows down while the ship is still turning to it, because a ship cannot turn while time runs too fast for it to steer.

0.9.2 · Orbits that drift

2026-10-06

  • Orbits drift under time warp as they do at normal speed: Earth’s bulge turns a low orbit’s plane by several degrees a day, and the planner plans a burn hours or days ahead from where your orbit will have drifted by then.
  • Through a long time warp the Moon and the Sun now pull on your craft from where they are at each moment, not from where they will be at the end of each step.
  • Every planet and moon pulls with its measured strength, and Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and the big moons of Jupiter and Saturn bulge at their equators as the real ones do, turning the orbits round them.

0.9.0 · The real solar system

2026-10-05

  • A new world starts on today’s date, with every planet and the Moon where they really are, on real elliptical orbits tilted the way they really are: windows to Mars and beyond open when they really do.
  • Earth’s axis is tilted, so the Sun stands higher in summer than in winter. The Moon’s orbit swings between 18 and 29 degrees from the equator, and the Moon nods north and south over the month as the real one does.
  • Planets turn on their real axes: Mars leans 25 degrees, Saturn 27 with its rings, Uranus lies on its side, and their moons circle their own equators.
  • The map draws every planet’s and moon’s orbit as its real ellipse in its real plane.
  • In a new world, flying to the Moon means lining your orbit up with the Moon’s plane first, as real missions do: the planner says so when the planes are too far apart.
  • Worlds you already have keep the solar system they started with, and so do the tutorials.
