Roadmap
Where this is going
No dates. Novera is built by one person and a date would be a guess dressed up as a promise. What is here instead: what you can play now, what is actively being worked on, and what is genuinely wanted next.
As of version 0.15.133.
In the build
Playable today.
- N-body gravity at real scale, with 6DOF flight
- The real solar system: today's date, real elliptical orbits, axial tilts and the Moon's real orbit
- Every world's own air and wind: thin Martian CO2, Venus at 92 bar, Titan's frozen nitrogen
- Aerodynamics from each part's real shape, and flaps that steer by their drag
- Structures at their real stiffness that bend, wear through and buckle before they break
- Heat shields that char like real ablators, and landers that cook on Venus unless insulated
- Super-heavy hardware: the 9 m family, methane engines, hot staging, flaps and heat tiles
- Real planetary imagery and elevation for every body, with rayed craters and Venus under its clouds
- A night sky with real constellations, the Milky Way, airglow, the aurora and the planets
- A launch complex built to be looked at: service tower, flame trench, deluge steam, floodlights
- Mission planner with launch windows to the Moon, mid-course trims and landings
- A map that follows your flight, with clickable apsides and other craft's orbits on a click
- Time warp to ten million times on rails, held back only where the physics needs it
- A ground tracking camera with a long lens, and broadcast calls from liftoff to engine cutoff
- Docking, and EVA with a real jetpack budget and flags you can draw
- Rovers built on a chassis, wheels that snap on like a car's, driven off the pad
- Flying through cloud: billows rushing past and water running down the lens
- A cockpit to sit in: live displays, working switches, mouse-look, your crew beside you, the launch heard through the hull
- Career mode, 400+ challenges, and block-code automation
- Paint, lettering and flight wear on every part
- A builder that says what to add next, and a parts list you can jump around
- Your own world on the title screen, and an in-game changelog
- Accounts, the shop and this account center
- iOS build with touch controls, and screen reader mode
Being worked on
In progress right now.
- Tanks that hold what their volume holds
- Engines that need ignitions, a minimum throttle and settled propellant to restart
- Reaction wheels at real torque, with a control-moment gyro for big craft
- Planet surfaces that hold up from far orbit
- Touch layouts that fit every phone screen
- A Windows release, and a notarized macOS build
Wanted, unscheduled
Real intentions, no dates.
- Split-screen across up to four vessels
- Nozzle flow separation for vacuum engines fired at sea level
Things move between these columns often, and some move backwards. When something lands, it is written up in the news — including the parts that went wrong.
